Man shot dead in Maverley, St Andrew by Gunmen

A man was on Thursday night attacked and shot dead by gunmen in the community of Maverley, St Andrew.

The dead man has been identified as Simon Singh, otherwise called ‘Kartel’.


Reports are that at about 8:40 pm, Singh, 29, was standing on Fenbrook Avenue, an area that is located in the mentioned St Andrew North Western community, when two men travelling on a motorcycle drove up and opened fire hitting him several times.

One alleged eyewitness said Singh was searching through his phone when the men surprised him.

“He was standing close to the car and looking through his phone when the men on the motor cycle approached him, as they reached close to him they just started to fire. Singh was shot more than 10 times,” the alleged eyewitness told Loop News.

The sound of gunfire Thursday night sent scores of residents running for cover.

The men then made their escape from the area.

Police were called to the area and Singh was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
