Police Officer Shot & Currently In Critical Condition

According to news sources – The police officer who was shot and injured on Maxfield Avenue in Kingston this morning has been identified.

He is District Constable Wilfred Carby, who is assigned to the Detention and Courts Division.


According to Acting SSP of the St Andrew South Division, Arthur Brown, the officer was driving in a blue Honda Accord motorcar about 9:00 am when a gold-coloured Toyota Corolla blocked his path and the occupants opened fire. The officer reportedly exited his vehicle and returned the fire. Whilst engaged in the shoot out, another vehicle travelling with the Toyota pulled behind him and shot the officer, SSP Brown said.

The injured police officer was said to be travelling alone.

He is currently in critical but stable condition at the Kingston Public Hospital.
