Three Shot Dead by Gunman in Clarendon Within an Eight Hour Span
A thick cloud of fear is hanging over the parish of Clarendon where criminals continued to wreak havoc on Thursday, killing three persons in separate incidents within an eight-hour span only days after a double murder in the parish capital.
In the first incident on Thursday, a 28-year-old man identified as Andrew Codner, a resident of Christiana in Manchester, was shot dead while sitting in his motorcar along the Osbourne Store main road in Clarendon.
Reports from the May Pen police are that about 1:10 p.m., a white motorcar was driven up to the location, and a man armed with a gun exited the vehicle and opened gunfire, hitting Codner several times to the upper section of his body.
The shooter then escaped from the scene.
The police were summoned and the victim was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A little over five hours later in the New Longville section of the parish, a 30-year-old electrician – Jason Mantac, otherwise called ‘Webby’ – was attacked and gunned down.
Reports are that about 6:55 p.m., Mantac was at his gate in his community when he was pounced upon by unknown assailant(s), who opened gunfire, hitting him several times to the upper section of his body.
The police were summoned and he was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Just over an hour later, gunmen struck again.
A man known only as ‘Andre’, of a St Catherine address, was shot and killed by unknown assailant(s) in Ebony Park, Clarendon.
Reports from the May Pen police are that about 8:30 p.m., residents heard explosions and raised an alarm.
On the arrival of law enforcers, Andre was seen lying along the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.
The scene was processed and he was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations continue into the three homicides.
