Two Men Shot & Killed in Mount Salem St. James

Crime continues to be a major concern in western Jamaica with the murder toll inching close to 100.

In the latest incident, two men were gunned down in Mount Salem St James yesterday (May 1).


Dead are 32-year- old Chef Jonathan Bailey otherwise Called, Chris, and 20-year-old Asher Barnett, both of Porto Bello Housing Scheme in St. James.

Reports from the Mount Salem Police are that about 12:30 p.m., both men were walking along a section of the Farm Heights Main Road, when a white motor car pulled up.

Two men aboard the vehicle reportedly opened fire at Bailey and Barnett.

It’s further reported that Barrett ran but was chased and shot several times.

Residents heard explosions and summoned the police.

On their arrival, both men were seen lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. They reportedly died on the spot.

The gunmen escaped.

The Mount Salem and Freeport police are investigating.
