Wanted Man Shot Dead by Police Officers in Hanover


A man who was listed on the Hanover police’s wanted list was shot and killed after allegedly engaging the police in a shootout in the parish on Wednesday afternoon.

Following the firefight, a handgun was recovered, the police said.

The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Davian Clarke of a Cousins Cove, Hanover address.

Reports are that about 4:00 p.m., members of a law enforcement team went to a premises in Cove, Hanover, in search of wanted men, and were greeted with gunfire.

The cops reportedly took evasive action and returned the fire.

After the shooting subsided, Clarke was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Clarke, who was said to be a member of the Rich gang, which operates out of Green Island in Hanover, was wanted for shooting with intent, illegal possession of firearm, and arson, which were all committed in Hanover.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has commenced a probe into the fatal shooting.
